Terms of service

These terms cover your use of this website and anything you buy through it. By placing an order you are agreeing to them.

Who you are buying from

This store is operated by Maine Record Sales, 301 Main St, Corinth, ME 04427, United States. We have been selling records for over 45 years. Where these terms say "we" or "us", that is who they mean. The same terms apply on every website we sell through, including mainerecordsales.com and christmasmusicandmore.com, which share one shop, one stock list and one checkout.

What we sell

We sell records, cassettes, CDs and 8-tracks from warehouse stock, most of it still factory sealed and much of it over 35 years old. These are not new releases and they are not reissues: they are original stock that has sat on a shelf since it was new.

Every item is graded before listing and the grade appears on the product page. Sleeves on stock of this age can show shelf wear even where the record itself has never been played, and on sealed items we grade what can be seen through the shrink wrap.

Stock, and why an order can be cancelled

Nearly everything here is a single copy. We sell the same stock through more than one channel, so very occasionally a record sells somewhere else in the time between you adding it to your cart and your order reaching us.

If that happens we will email you and refund you in full, straight away. Your order is not accepted until we have confirmed it and sent it. We are not able to offer a replacement for something there was only one of.

Prices and errors

All prices are in US dollars and do not include shipping or tax, both of which are shown at checkout before you pay.

We price several thousand records by hand and occasionally one of them is wrong. If an item is listed at an obviously mistaken price we may cancel the order and refund you rather than fulfil it. We will always contact you first.

We can change prices at any time, but never on an order that has already been placed.

Paying

We accept the card brands and digital wallets shown at checkout. Payment is taken when you order. Your card details are handled by Shopify's checkout and its payment providers, and we never see or store your full card number.

Shipping and when a record becomes yours

We ship within the United States only. Costs, services and timings are in our shipping policy.

Delivery estimates are estimates. Once a parcel is with the Postal Service its progress is not something we control, though we will always help you chase it.

Returns

Our refund policy forms part of these terms. In short: everything is guaranteed, and if you are not completely satisfied you can send it back for a full refund at our expense.

Nothing in these terms affects the rights you have under consumer law.

Your account

You do not need an account to order. If you make one, keep your login details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else has got into it.

Using this site

Please do not scrape the site, try to break into it, interfere with it, or use it to do anything unlawful. We can refuse service or cancel an order if an account is being used in bad faith.

Our content, and other people's

The design, photographs and written descriptions on this site belong to us. Please do not copy them for commercial use without asking.

Artist names, album titles, label names and cover artwork remain the property of their respective owners. They appear here to identify the physical records we are offering for sale, which we are entitled to resell.

Accuracy

We take care over our listings, but we do not promise the site is free of errors. Catalogue data is drawn partly from public release databases and may occasionally be incomplete or wrong. If you spot a mistake, tell us and we will fix it.

Liability

Our responsibility for any order is limited to what you paid for it, including shipping. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, United States.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version on this page at the time you order is the one that applies to that order.
